As the founder of Alpus Project Management, Alan Edwards brings a rare blend of experience and expertise to the table. With a reputable career spanning over 40 years, I’ve earned my stripes as a Chartered Construction Manager. It’s a journey I look back on with pride and a journey that’s brought real value to the projects and teams I’ve led.
I’ve had the privilege of being part of the Chartered Institute Of Building for most of my career, an association that’s as steadfast in the industry as I aim to be in my projects. The pinnacle of this relationship came in 2012, when I was appointed a Fellow, an honor that stands as a testament to my dedication to the profession of construction management. I am also a Fellow Of The Association For Project Management.
The field of project management has offered me a global passport. It took me to the vibrant and ambitious landscape of Azerbaijan, where I worked on a massive $1.5bn mixed-use development called Crescent Development Project. Previously I have worked on major projects in the United Arab Emirates (3 times), and The Bahamas, (multi million dollar hotel and resort schemes). It’s these international endeavors that have enriched my viewpoint and sharpened my skills, allowing me to bring a wealth of global insights to every new challenge.
I worked for many years on major infrastructure projects in the UK including major resignalling and civil and structural engineering works on the national mainline railways and the Docklands Light Railway Stratford International Extension.
As an advocate of collaborative efforts, I’ve always believed that the most fruitful projects are those where contracts serve cooperation, not conflict. My stance is that regardless of the contract’s wording, there’s an underlying moral duty that binds all parties to work together to solve issues swiftly and finish their individual tasks with integrity.
Should you wish to delve into the fabric of my professional career, my LinkedIn profile offers a window into the roles and responsibilities I’ve undertaken. Want to start a conversation about project management, or simply discuss how I can help turn your project around? My contact details, both personal and business, are open channels for just such interactions.
I wrote a book about my experiences of managing major projects, called Project Deliverance: The 20Key Factors For Project Success (Or Failure), which is an International best seller.
